Weight Loss
A 2002 study at Huazhong Agricultural University
in China demonstrated that Goji's master molecule
polysaccharides enhanced the conversion of food
into energy, and reduced body weight. Patients were
given a tea made of goji berries each morning and
each afternoon. Most patients lost significant weight.
Immune System Boost
Over 40 years of research have proved Gojis
ability to improve immunity. Goji acts as an adaptogen
and thus improves low immune function. Goji can
also help to normalize a hyperactive immune system.
Polysaccharides increased activity of the bodys
strongest disease-fighting immune cells (T-cells,
natural killer cells and cytotoxic T-cells) in laboratory
animals. In another study with seniors, Goji berries
increased lysozyme, IgG and IgA in serum increased
in all participants. Polysaccharides enhance the
T-cell immune response by increasing the number
of E-receptors on the surface of T-cells or it increased
the amount of T-cells directly.
Arthritis
Superoxide dismutase (SOD) is the bodys strongest
antiinflammatory enzyme and under normal conditions
keeps in check the free radical known as superoxide
anion. During chronic and acute inflammation, superoxide
anions are produced at a rate that overpowers the
ability of the bodys SOD enzyme defense system
to remove these free radicals.
An important study in China found that regular intake
of Goji resulted in a remarkable 40 percent increase
of SOD. For all arthritic conditions research suggests
a maintenance dosage of 2 ounces of premium quality
Goji juice or 3-4 capsules with each meal. During
times of flare-ups the serving size may be doubled.
Diabetes
Goji is critical to breaking the cycle of carbohydrate
addiction and insulin resistance that leads to obesity,
diabetes, heart disease, and other chronic diseases
associated with this problem. The Goji berry is
the greatest source of health-promoting nutrients
for our cells. Goji has been used in China for treatment
of adult-onset diabetes
as it helps balance blood sugar and insulin response.
The
recommended dosage is two capsules twice a day.

Anti-Aging
Goji contains a unique LBP polysaccharide complex,
which is a strong secretagogue (a substance that
stimulates the secretion of strong secretagogue
(a substance that stimulates the secretion of rejuvenative
human growth hormones by the pituitary gland). Almost
70% of patients experienced substantial increases
in their immune defense systems. Activity of White
cell interleukin-2 was doubled, while T-cell transformation
functions rose threefold. Nearly all patients reported
better quality of sleep, improved appetite and greater
happiness.
Energy & Athletic Performance
In an animal study Gojis LBP polysaccharides
triggered a remarkable increase in stamina and exercise
tolerance. It also helped eliminate fatigue. Gojis
LBP enhances glycogen storage, which is the bodys
best energy fuel. Gojis LBP also helps with
post-workout recovery by increasing activity of
the lactic acid removing enzyme lactate dehydrogenase.
This limits the occurrence of sore muscles. Gojis
LBP also accelerates clearance of blood urea nitrogen,
which is a toxin produced during workout. The recommended
dosage is up to 6 capsules per day.
Preventing Cancer
Gojis polysaccharides are particularly effective
in enhancing the production of IL-2. Interleukin-2
(IL-2) is an important cytokine (cell protein) that
induces strong antitumor responses in a variety
of cancer models. IL-2 has been studied in the U.S.A.
as an immune promoting factor with HIV infection
and certain cancers. According to other studies
from China, the Goji berry inhibits the gene mutation
induced by TA98 and TA 100. The scientific community
increasingly promotes Goji as an effective method
to prevent liver cancer.
Cardiovascular Health
Blood contains the antioxidant enzyme superoxide
dismutase (SOD). SOD fights against the accumulation
of lipid peroxides, which can lead to various heart
diseases. In a clinical study, Goji berry consumption
prompted a significant 40% rise in SOD levels and
a corresponding 65% decline in lipid peroxides.
Levels of SOD decrease as the body ages. The recommended
dosage is 23 capsules per day.
Sexual Dysfunction/Prostrate Health
Goji berries, when taken orally, have found to noticeable
increase androgen levels in the blood, resulting
in patients feeling more energetic. Goji berries
are frequently used to treat sexual impotence. Goji
berries are also known to enhance sexual vitality.
Goji Juice has also been taken to improve urine
